Weird Web October - Casualty Report

For Weird Web October day one, I used the inspiration term "nature" to make a site for casualty.report, a domain I've owned for a long time.

Warning: the site is designed to show you the latest updated research-grade image of identified mammal bones from iNaturalist. If it's working correctly, you WILL see animal remains.

The level of weirdness changes based on whether it's a single bone, antler, or a skull (most common) or whether someone has more recently IDed a whole skeleton/corpse (like a deer or a sheep). I was aiming to create something this unsettling and strange. There is a consent page at index.html to make sure you know what you're getting into. I've found this fascinating and a little alarming so I guess it fulfills the "weird" part of "weird web".

Check it out here.

No idea how many of these I am going to do for WWO... but this URL was calling for a spooky halloween implementation of some sort, and I wanted to make something that would direct attention to iNaturalist. I love that site and use the app frequently. You should check it out!
