indieblog.page
I'm sure plenty of you already know about this one, since other folks from cohost have posted about it before, but I do like this bookmarklet a lot! It just takes you to a random personal blog. Remember stumbleupon??? Good shit.
The "indie web" of blogs contains a very high percentage of computer touchers and like... grifter-adjacent startup people, it seems, but that only makes the cool blogs you find even more exciting. I see several interesting ones a session.
34th Birthday - sylvie
Sylvie made herself a game for her 34th birthday. Incredible. Truly the greatest present to give yourself!!
Bungie morale reportedly in "free fall" as it grapples with stolen Marathon assets fallout - Vikki Blake
The whole Marathon stolen assets thing has been going for several days. I am linking this article because I think it reflects some emotional experiences I am very familiar with, after working at Riot in 2018. At a very large company, where many different departments work together in strict coordination and with the healthy assistance of a kind of faith-driven trust, it is possible for a person or a process to fail their peers in an extremely intense way. I hope that the original artist gets megabucks from this situation, and that the folks working at Bungie see some serious process changes as a result.
The Oceana Fire - rykarn
A blogger posts about an engineering/fire disaster that occurred near his home in Gothenburg. I, too, find incident reports interesting, and this is a very unusual one - a fire inside the tube slides in an under-construction waterpark. I dimly remember hearing about this when it happened. Here is a video showing the immediate aftermath of the fire.
