Skin Deep... the best immersive sim of 2025??
PC Gamer put us on their best of 2025 mega-list as "best immersive sim"!
First of all, I agree with this. It's true - Skin Deep is perfect and is indeed the best there is.
Secondly: I really did appreciate that they led their best-of post with the two PC-iest award genres possible - point and click adventures and imsims. After seeing this, I reflected that PC Gamer is probably the only, like, formally-organized institution on the face of the planet that is deeply concerned with tracking imsims. I posted here recently about Bruno's São Paulo Interpretation of the imsim genre - it's a tiny tiny genre because these games are insanely annoying to make, so it's not exactly a difficult genre to explore. But it is surprisingly difficult to hear about new imsims. I didn't hear about Brigand Oaxaca until several years after it came out.
If you are reading this you have certainly heard about Skin Deep, so that problem's solved. But we are always hungry for more people to hear about it (and to give us their money), so please tell people about it. You can now tell your friends that one of the few institutions on the planet that bothers to think about imsims has decided that we are the best one. However... whether that makes any difference to them will depend on whether they have heard about the genre at all!!
