Played some Sokobond Express

I was a huge PC Sokobond fiend right after it came out - I had it installed on my work computer at Tencent and would play it during lunchtime periods while eating indian burritos at my desk. I ate those burritos basically 3 out of 5 days of the week and my memory of the Sokobond Lunch always includes them.

Sokobond Express is a great twist on the game, and I'm so delighted that Draknek published it. It's the work of a single designer, Jose Hernandez, who's done a fantastic job atnot only combining Sokobond and Cosmic Express, but also at surfacing the visual information which helps you navigate both those vectors of puzzle simultaneously.

After completing a large number of smaller levels, the player gains access to a series of much-harder puzzles which combine each of the small levels' themes and mechanics. This was where I started to notice how fucking good the game was at using visuals to surface various elements of the puzzle to me. It's really fantastic.

I am not very good at this kind of puzzle, and I'm particularly bad at bringin discipline and persistence to puzzle games with a lot of "bottlenecks" in them. Sokobond Express is pretty good at keeping a lot of branching puzzle opportunities open for me, so I've been able to keep at it despite being a bit of an idiot.

Anyway, if you want something to fiddle at during a lunch hour, this remains a great choice. I'll be doing that for the next few weeks for sure.
