Look at my Pickle Coffer

We have this one very old glass food container we use for leftovers which has always struck me as "coffer-esque" in shape and nature. I imagine that if I were exploring a tomb full of skeletons and wizards, I'd find a container shaped like this at the end of the tomb, and there'd be large gems and golden coins inside it. When I put food in this thing and lightly set the lid on top, it feels very insecure. I have to carry it to the fridge with both hands, as if I'm carrying a precious treasure. This contributes to the coffer-esque quality it has.

Anyway, I am now attempting to make quick pickles in the coffer:

I put way too many pickle spices in here, but the pickle spice container I have is pretty old, so I worried that I needed to overdo it a bit to overcome the staleness.

In 2020 I went nuts for pickling. I tried to go nuts for bread but wasn't very good at making it, so I turned to pickling. The best thing to quick-pickle as a snack is actually cherry tomatoes. You stick em with a fork to let the juices in, whack em in a jam jar, and add brine. They pop in your mouth. They're incredible.

I went overboard on the pickles a bit, however. It was perhaps my greatest form of Lockdown Madness. I lightened up on the pickling in 2021 and 2022 and eventually quit making pickles altogether. The pickle spices are from one of those two years, I think. Maybe 2022. Anyway, I'm trying to use them now with some pickles cut from persian cucumbers.

The other thing I've heard in the years since is that putting MSG in your brine is a great call. I have heard that the MSG pickle is a supreme type of snack. So: there's a great deal of MSG on these pickles. I actually do not know how much MSG I put on these or in the brine because I went so crazy with it. I will let you know if it worked.

Because of the coffer's shape and insecure lid, I actually had to pour the brine into the coffer while the coffer was already inside my fridge. To achieve this, I had to use a very small pot. Aside from some of the pickles sticking out of the brine, it all worked out, nothing bad happened, and I didn't shatter anything in a sudden temperature swing. The pickling has commenced:

Because these are quick pickles, they'll be good to eat in just a few days. So I'll have a verdict on the impact of MSG very soon...
