If you're thinking of building your own airplane from scratch, here's a bunch of free airplane plans

The website Plans For Everything has diagrams for 20 different aircraft available as free PDFs.

Notably, the person who operates this site hasn't really built or tried to build any of these airplanes. The comments they've provided have the same vibe as the offhand comments I make to my friends about which indie games I'm thinking of playing next. To me, this is a weird vibe for a website about making machines that can kill you!!

An early racing monoplane of 1920s design. Looks like at least one was built and flown.

An interesting looking monoplane form the 1920s that looks to be straightforward and sturdy. This was once in production.

Here's a clean looking Russian design that looks pretty easy to build. Plans are metric.

Looks like at least one was built and flown! Looks to be sturdy!! My god. Homemade airplane builders are certainly a type of guy!

Some plans, like the Georgias Special, are written up with extensive explanations alongside the diagrams, which come with full measurements. Others, like the Woodhopper, a "modern" ultralight all-wood aircraft, bears the following warning:

These drawings are for engineering reference and study purposes only !

If an actual project is planned, qualified engineers must be consulted !

Structural analysis and safety engineering data is not available and may never have existed !

Okay! Thanks for the warning!!!

I really wanted to know about the guys who made this site, because they're depicted in the header banner smiling and relaxing inside a boat I suspect they built themselves. When you click on the About link, however, it breaks. Whoever made this site has given us Plans For Everything from the pure goodness of their heart, without expectation for glory or recognition.

It isn't everything, though. It' s mostly just shit I would NEVER BUILD AT HOME MYSELF. The sidebar links out to plans for jet turbines, pulse jets, and numerous small cars for kids to drive. However, there's also a bunch of plans I might actually be able to build if I tried unbelievably hard, including scooters/mini motorcycles, steam engines, and bows and harpoon guns.

Cool site. This is the good internet. I'm definitely not building a plane though.
