Enjoy this video about electronic saxophones
I played the saxophone for two years in grade school before becoming furiously frustrated with the instrument and going to percussion. I was encouraged in my ill-tempered abandonment of the instrument by my band teacher, who knew that I could already read the grand staff and play the piano, and would therefore be capable of playing the glockenspiel and the timpani. None of my classmates in percussion could read notes!
I haven't touched a saxophone since. However I learned earlier this week that digital saxophones exist, and then I went down a rabbit hole about digital wind instruments... anyway, here is a video I found!!
I also learned that a team on Crowd Supply is selling a stripped down digital saxophone that's just a pcb with mechanical keyboard keys on it. Wild!! These are straight up the kinds of instruments I would expect to see in, like, Star Wars. The second two saxophones in that video above, in particular, look star warsy to me.
Maybe I shoulda stuck with the sax...
