Cute little Pokemon-esque Roottrees-alike
This cute little narrative deduction game, My Friends the Monster Trainers,is a short (for me, 20-minute) browser-based deduction puzzle where you have to deduce the type, moves, habitat, and art for a set of Pokemon-like monsters, using only a set of letters describing children getting into battles with them.
The game lacks Obra Dinn style guess banking, so it's a bit more possible to brute force than other games in this genre... but it's short and each creature has a LOT of different qualities you must deduce from the letters, so it doesn't seem like it really merited guess banking.
There's a devlog about it here which gets into its background as a 72 hour game jam game, as well as some of the reasoning behind its puzzle design. There's even a little bit in here about why the devs avoided the Obra Dinn style guess banking and what they did instead to add some friction to brute-forcing gameplay. I really enjoyed reading it!
