Back from New York
We had a great vacation in NYC between Christmas and the New Year, which is unusual in that we actually worked every single day of the vacation (because Skin Deep is coming out soon) and did not actually visit any cultural or tourist facilities.
We just ate and visited friends. And that's good! That's a good way to do a vacation. I can highly recommend it.
When I was younger I used to maintain a list of all the museums in NYC that I could identify, with information about their ticket prices, locations, whether I liked them or not, etc. I did this primarily to take advantage of the large number of completely free museums in the city. (The list is no longer accurate, or I would share it here. Maybe I should update it...)
My number one recommendation for a Weird Museum to visit in NYC is the Mossman Lock Collection, which cost, when I visited, 10 dollars. It is one giant room filled with historical locks, and you give yourself a tour by reading out of a decently long academic style book they hand you when you walk in. Attendance is by appointment only, so check out the link above if you want to visit.
Hope you too had a good end-of-December! Because I did. And I got a lot done. (Cannot wait to be in a position where I don't have to get things done anymore!!)
