You can now host Flash games on itch

Itch announced this week that they are using Ruffle, a Flash emulator, to host flash games in-browser on itch.io. This is very cool!!

I wrote recently about how Flash webgames wwere a major driver of youth culture when I was growing up. Flash's impact on what it meant to be a teen online in the 2000s is very similar to how short-form video pervasively impacts youth culture today, basically - it was THE medium through which teens could engage with Interesting Stuff Online. Flash's deprecation shot a hole through online culture like... I dunno, like a cannonball through a piece of printer paper. It's kind of nuts how thoroughly the web of my childhood was erased when Flash stopped being supported.

Anyway... if you've got ancient cultural artifacts from the dawn of the popular web sitting around, stick them on itch.io!! I have no idea how to make NEW Flash games, but I know that some places, like Klei, are still animating in Flash. So it MUST be possible... Right????
