Moped documentary
Writing about that extreme pogo documentary reminded me of Swarm and Destroy, a 46-minute video about the origins of the "Moped Army," a network of moped clubs still active in the US. I believe I learned about this from hellojed, who posts on his blog about Moped Army stuff from time to time.
I think the wildest thing about this video is that the Michigan moped fiends who started the club spend nearly the entire time discussing instances when their bikes have been stolen or children have thrown rocks at them. It's extremely interesting that when they decided to write the history of their organization, they chose to spend so much time describing times they got in fights with pre-teens over the mopeds. The video opens with everyone describing their ages and professions, and it's very clear that this is a youth subculture, and that their problems are the problems teenagers and 22-year-olds have, and they're maniacs about everything in the way that rowdy children are, basically. It's a real blast from the past kinda thing!! (In more than one way for sure.)
Anyway, if you watch this video, I recommend checking out the Moped Army website. You can actually look up some of the people in this video on that website - including the founder!
