I love Poinpy
I have a very strong memory of playing Poinpy, the Netflix version, on my phone in my mother in law's back yard while my niece and nephew, then I think seven and five, sprinted over and demanded to know what I was doing. It's got a childlike cartoon effervescence and I was completely unsurprised that the kids wanted to see it.
It looks like this. It's an absolutely fantastic game:
Poinpy was one of those Netflix-funded indie games that went onto the mobile Netflix app to die a death of obscurity. I'm probably going to wait ten or fifteen years before I speak with any public specificity about what I think of that, but I will say that it's bullshit Poinpy didn't get the recognition it deserved when it came out. It's the second game from Ojiro Fumoto, who made Downwell - another banger.
I played a fuck ton of Poinpy when it came out in 2022. I used the Netflix app only for playing Poinpy, and uninstalled it when I felt like I was done with Poinpy.
I no longer have to do this because Poinpy is now free on iOS and Android. I have no idea why! I could guess but I have no proof. Devolver is publishing it. For now, I think we are all just lucky to have Poinpy.
You should get it! It's great! I'm just gonna play it all over again from the start!!
