After you see You Can See Everything...

...You should read the Wired interview with Nathan Fielder. It's very good. It's also behind a paywall, so do your best to see it, I guess.

I have spent a lot of today thinking about the movie and also about this interview. I have seen a really remarkable amount of life-changingly good cinema this year. It's a very good time to be alive and to be Going To The Movies. I saw Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie this year, AND You Can See Everything. Thank you, Canada, for your cultural gifts! I also saw Maddie's Secret, and Dead Lover, which are other fantastic, weird, sincere comedies you should absolutely watch. And I haven't even seen some of the other stuff from this year that my friends assure me is excellent. It feels really weird but, like, movies are good again??? How did this happen???

I think I was attracted to videogame development in my late teens partially because it felt like the only medium where anyone was doing anything interesting. In the 2000s and early 2010s, I was not seeing things in film which felt exciting and form-expanding, but I could tell, very easily, that there were endless hidden secrets in game development, and that creative "progress" was comparatively easy to make there, and that being interested in games would fill my life with exciting new experiences in a way that other media would not.

So it feels really weird to go to the regular ass movie theater and see something that does, actually, feel like a kinda-new experience for me! We're kinda feasting out here!
